Galeries Lafayette is defeated! While most of us thought a 30,000 square foot space dedicated solely to pretty shoes was unique, Selfridges took home the title of largest shoe department. On September 23, The Shoe Galleries, a 3,250 square meter space designed by Canadian architect Jamie Fobert, opened in the Oxford Street department store.
Serial shoe addicts will love this selection of beautiful shoes. Who are among the selected shoemakers? You’ll find the best of Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, LK Bennett, Tod’s, Salvatore Ferragamo and Kurt Geiger, as well as luxury items from Prada, Dior, Gucci, Chanel, Fendi and more. Finally 150 brands join. Not to mention, there are plenty of exclusive galleries, new labels (35) and limited editions for you to enjoy shopping.
As for the interior, it wouldn’t be the largest shoe space in the world without some division. In fact, the six “rooms” are accompanied by 11 “apartments” dedicated to the biggest luxury footwear brands. Dedicated to Chanel, it was recreated from Mademoiselle Coco’s apartment. Repetto has its imitation and the All Saints imitation. There are also two “design rooms”.
The space between the remaining shelves creates a contemporary, comfortable and walkable feel. To better serve the event, the windows and escalators are decorated with high heels. And all kinds of gourmet creations adorn the space.
