Some reviews of the Breeze Kings third CD

“We didn’t dare think about it anymore. A new record from the Breeze Kings! Even though I kept in touch with My friend Jim It felt like forever. “No money, no time “he would say and on top of that Carlos gravely ill, so we thought that was it. Well no, here’s the record and they’re even announcing a fourth coming soon. So…. They found the funds and the time and what’s even greater is that Carlos’s health remains stable as he awaits his transplant. Well it feels good to learn all this good news.

This third opus was made spontaneously amongst two buddies, Jim and Carlos (not enough funds to pay the whole band-says Jim) playing an acoustic gig taking advantage of two hours recording pure blues, traditional country blues with tunes from Robert Johnson, lightnin’ Hopkins, Son House, etc…. Without forgetting a handful of compositions from our two comrades. Nothing new here, we’ve heard them all before on their two prior releases, but never in these conditions.

A recording with remarkable quality that accentuates perfectly the talent of these musicians. The voice of Carlos is magnificent, full of feeling, pure and round with this little indescribable thing which makes it so captivating. His harmonica playing fluid and precise which I appreciate more in these conditions. As for “Droopy ” Jim he is just. Simply fantastic and his picking is a joy, classy with a capital C…..

A superb album with several strong moments played with sincerity by musicians at the peek of their art.”
